I saw the prompt for this week’s Five Fandom Friday by Nerdy Girlie and I just couldn’t help myself. I have a soft spot in my heart for droids and their mech-y character. Now this list is in no particular order, just a collection of my favorite robotic characters!

R2D2

R2D2 was the first droid that I fell in love with. His beep-boop noises added so much character to an otherwise pretty emotionless metal frame. My husband forced me to watch Star Wars I, II, & III and while h-a-t-i-n-g Anakin and the Jar Jar, I found a friend in R2D2.

Netflix’s recent series A Series of Unfortunate Events has been the talk of the town and it’s not hard to see why.  The recent adaptation of Daniel Handler’s children’s series is beautiful and full of intrigue (not to mention Neil Patrick Harris). Deadpool’s Motivational Posters

Fandom Friday

I love a good motivational poster. One of those images that you look at and you just feel like becoming a better person. These are not those. In fact, these are pretty much the opposite of those. These are motivational posters based on your favorite anti-hero. That’s right! Crude anti-motivational posters by Deadpool! Enjoy.

Warning! The images below contain crude and offensive language. Scroll at your own risk.

What’s the big deal with Harley Quinn?

With the release of Suicide Squad this week, Harley Quinn products have been everywhere! Just the other day we went into our local comic book shop Heroes and Fantasies and saw an entire display of Harley Quinn merchandise. Harley Quinn Pops, outfits, figurines, you name it they had it. This is no doubt related to the film release, but it goes beyond that. There has always been a fascination with Joker’s lady. But why?

Pokemon Go! A New-Geek’s Perspective

Fandom Friday/ Video Games

Before we get started, go check out Kayla from Epicfied‘s Pokemon Q&A.

I grew up in the era where Pokemon reigned supreme. I, however, was not one of those kids who carried around their Pokemon cards wherever they went. I didn’t play Pokemon games on my Gameboy, and I definitely never watched the show. It wasn’t because I necessarily scoffed at the idea, it just never came up and I never pursued it. If you read my origin story part I, then you know that public judgement had something to do with it too.

It wasn’t until the release of Pokemon GO that I even thought about entering the world of Pokemon. I mean sure, they are cute (some of them), but I’m an adult. And I already have a plateful of fandoms to juggle. How could I broach entering a new one? Then I saw a lot of my geeky blogger friends playing and I thought I would give it a try.

Funko Swap : Buttloose Tina

Fandom Friday

When DePepi brought up the idea of a Funko POP swap a couple months ago, I was one of the first to volunteer! First, I love my geek girl bloggers. Second, I LOVE POPS! It’s borderline ridiculous. I am a 26 year old mother who collects toys. I’ve reached a level of geek I never thought I could accomplish.

We were instructed to make a group of 5 POPs on our wishlist and then send it to DePepi. She matched everyone up and then ensued the hard part: waiting.

Actually the waiting part wasn’t so bad. As I mentioned in my origin story part I, my summer has been a non-stop party! There have been people in and out of my house since the beginning of June (not that I’m complaining). So when I got back from our Fourth of July trip to Alabama and saw that there was a package for me, I was utterly confused.

6 Sherlock Fanart Pieces You MUST See

Fandom Friday

I find the concept of fanart fascinating. I feel like it is a way for us, as fans, to show how much we appreciate a particular show or story. It’s a way for us to interact with the characters outside of their element within our own environment. It’s a way for us to share the joy that we get out of something with others. This showcase is for the BBC show Sherlock. It contains all of my favorite Sherlock fanart that you simply must see. You need this art in your life, I promise you.

Beauty and The Beast Teaser Trailer Reaction

Disney

Hello lovelies! I’m not one to get go out of my way to watch a trailer (especially a teaser trailer). I only track it down if it’s really something that I’m interested in going to see. With that being said, I have watched the new Beauty and the Beast teaser trailer about 12 times. And what can I say about it?

It hooked me from the start. That theme music! Brings back so many memories of watching the VHS over and over and over again. Seeing how well they captured the setting of the castle and all of its beauty just made my heart so happy. We get to see a flash of rage from the Beast which definitely brought back all the fear that I had when I was a little girl. We get to hear Lumiere’s character in a small snippet of dialogue, one of my favorite characters. And then Belle.

6 Reasons Why Harry Potter is the New Black

Fandom Friday

I wasn’t always a Harry Potter fan. Gasp you should! After telling my husband (then boyfriend) that I had never seen the Harry Potter films he convinced me that I was missing something in my life. So for Christmas that year, I bought him all the Harry Potter movies that were out. Along with the movies, I gave a coupon for a Harry Potter marathon free of any complaints. He promptly cashed it in and I never looked back.
